Driven by her captivation with color, found materials, and the unpredictable nature of fluid mediums like dye and watercolor, Avery Fazio creates paintings and sculptures with a poetic sensibility. She stretches the capabilities of the two-dimensional surface by inviting interactions with light and movement to awaken a sense of play. Her main influences are color field painting and spiritualist art, supporting her wonder and reflecting on the mystery of an environment. Her process is driven by material experimentation and intuitive mark-making, prompted by physical findings, and expanded through repetition. Avery is working towards obtaining her B.F.A in Fibers from the Savannah College of Art and Design.
